A Day in the Life of a Teacher...

I am linking up with First Grade Nest for a great linky! My day wasn't that interesting today - so I promise a better day next time!
My day at school started at 7.30am as I carried in my computer bag, school bag, lunch bag, hand bag and a new shelf! Organisation in my room has been driving me crazy (we have furniture in our rooms when we move into them, and don't tend to bring in our own) so R has been making shelves for me. I had a new one to take in this morning so put in on the shelf straight away and organised it. Finally one of my kids does not have his tub on the floor anymore!

After some quick spelling at 9am, we started our reading at 9.15am and went into our Daily 5.
At 10am we started making our Father's Day Never Ending Cards. My teaching partner arranged this - here are the kids putting them together. I will blog about a tutorial in the future!
Some quick maths correction at recess 11.15am
Then we kept working on our Father's Day Cards ready for Sunday.
Then we designed what we were going to draw on our Dad's stubby holders (they are the present we are giving).
At 12.30 I had an hour time release and spent it finishing off a speech for assembly tomorrow for children to give (I am one of the teachers in charge of the Student Action Team) and doing some correction. Nothing exciting!
After lunch we had a quick camp meeting (we are going next week!) and then we finished our stubby holders for fathers day. Luckily the textas worked really well on the stubby holder.
My desk at 3.30 - lots of piles made today and you can see I extended sideways too to a kids table - I really need a bigger desk (or an office!).

I left school at 5.10pm - not too bad, with no meeting after school today, I was able to get a bit of work done!
When I left school, I needed to go to Big W to get a few things, it was pouring rain when I went in and then was greeted by a rainbow when I came out! A nice surprise (but very grey looking clouds!).
Home, dinner, cutting out some fraction games that I laminated today - some TV watching and in bed by 9.30pm. That is my day done!

Excursion Time!

As Monday is coming to a close, I am exhausted and it is only Monday! We started our week off with an excursion today!

First we went to the Bendigo Discovery Centre - similar to an exploratorium or scienceworks, the discovery centre was lots of fun for the kids. Their favourite was this vertical slide! So many kids went down it!

Then we visited a place called Confectionary Capers - everything in the shed is run using a wheel of some sort - we were all overwhelmed by what was in there (over 2000 things) and the kids wanted to try everything! Everything also had a play on words - really quite clever! The owner (an ex teacher) also had some great sayings around. Here are a few for you all.

Five for Friday

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for another 5 for Friday.

It's been a huge week at school - Book Week has been so much fun - here is a small glimpse into what we did!

We have been having weekly excursions to learn more about our local history. I loved this picture I took of all the kids (hands up with questions) and a paddlesteamer going past.
In division, we have been trying to make the link between multiplication so we looked at 3 for Free. Then we did a division tree, coming up with as many sums as we could that equaled 20. We also did a problem solving search around the classroom - answering 16 different questions as we moved around the classroom.

Lightning Jack was a book nominated by the Australian Book Council for book of the year - it didn't win, but we loved it anyway. We made these great painting using Lightening Jack as the feature.

For a Fun Friday activity, we made my Geometric Multiplication Circles - the kids loved them!
And I will leave you with my Book Week dress up as Mrs Frizzle!

Favourite Finds From the Sales

The HUGE Teachers Pay Teachers Back to School Sales are over and done with for another year! Thank you to everyone who bought something from my store - I am sure you are going to LOVE using it in your classroom!

I always use the Teachers Pay Teachers Sales to spend the time to find some great new resources (and because it is a sale, I usually buy it, even if I don't need it right now!) so I thought I would share my favourites! (Click on the pictures to go to the link!)

Jen Jones Font Licence! Love have used some of the fonts already in worksheets for school!
Adorable Stick Kid Scientists from From the Pond
As soon as I saw these, I knew I had to buy! My class have a lot of problems with elapsed time so we really needed these!
I bought these from Clever Classroom mainly for my own benefit - I always need reminding on Spelling Rules, it is not my forte!
I know this is a beginning of the year activity, but I had to buy it! It looked so good!
Enjoy the rest of the week!

Maths Game Monday

I hope in all the busyness of life right now, you get a chance to stop by and check out my Math Game for this week.

This is a great game you could easily play with Kindergarten children who are practising adding numbers together to 12 (2 six-sided dice) or up to 3rd Grade who are investigating the chance of rolling a dice - while it is an easy game - children's understanding can be shown through repeated practise!

Click on the instruction sheet to download.

Here is the number strip included in this download.
