Fractions Fractions Everywhere!

Last day of our two weeks school holidays today so I have a bit to get done - some gardening, some playing and unfortunately my plan of not doing school work today hasn't happened! Ah well - plenty of time as it is not even 9am yet!

If you have been a follower of my blog for a while, you would have noticed I blogged about this activity last year as well, I can't help it - I LOVE this pack! A few weeks ago, as we were starting our fractions and decimals unit, we did these activities.

I got this idea on pinterest and this was our introduction - we brainstormed everything we knew about 1/2!

Then children coloured in one half of each line on the fraction line.

Then we cut them out and talked about how 1/2 was an equivalent fraction of 4/8.

Then we put together as a book.

This is our display on our window (we have lots of windows in our classroom).

Another day, we also did this activity. The Grade 3's were given a sheet where they had to put the fractions in order from smallest to largest. The Grade 4's had to draw the fraction first, then put in order. They look great hanging up in our room!

You can find them here in Chrissy Beltran's TpT store - it was well worth the purchase!
Happy Sunday (or Saturday) everyone!

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

  1. Wow! Great stuff. I love your brainstorming poster and your displays too. I can modify this for my kinders easily.
    Thanks
